About the Mary Hawley Society
The Mary Hawley Society of Newtown, CT. was founded on June 12, 2007 to support the Board of Managers of Edmond Town Hall. The Society’s primary goals are to increase awareness of the historic nature of Edmond Town Hall and raise funds for its preservation.
Our Board of Directors
The Mary Hawley Society is a tax-exempt organization with a board of directors, presently numbering 10 people, plus many members who contribute to its efforts.
Edmond Town Hall
Edmond Town Hall, probably the only town hall in Connecticut that doesn't bear the name of the town it serves, is named for Mary Hawley's maternal great grandfather, Judge William Edmond.
Who Was Mary Hawley?
Mary Hawley may be one of Newtown’s most well-known benefactors, but her personal life is so obscured by Victorian ethos that in reality, she is hardly known at all.
A Note from the Board
